I’m looking up ways that we can beat this injury. Hope you guys are getting something from this too.
I injured my calf training for a marathon, and I’m looking for answers as to what the problem could be. I have a weird strain on the upper, posterior portion of my calf behind my knee that I have endured now for 9 weeks.
Are any other runner buddies of mine out there experiencing/have experienced this problem?
This is an interesting article that I just found on one writer’s take on eating cheap and healthy. Some of my favorite suggestions include
- Buy whey protein in bulk (suggested use as a meal supplement)
- Buy Frozen veggies
- Buy fatty meats (not sure if I agree as much with this one, be wary)
- EAT CANNED TUNA! (I love this one)
- Eat eggs (I really love this one too considering I eat between 1-2 dozen a week)
- and of course, drink water
Check it out!

This is what I threw together for Saturday afternoon. Just shows you don’t need a ton of equipment to sweat it out and be begging for mercy before the last circuit
4 times through this circuit with 45-90 seconds between circuits
- Wide grip pull-ups to failure
- Resistance band deadlift x 40 reps
- Resistance band front raises x 12 (make sure your feeling it for the last two reps)
- Resistance band squats x 30 reps
- Close grip Chin ups (supinated grip) to failure
- Resistance band curls x 20 reps on each arm AFAP (As Fast As Possible)
- Band rows x 20 reps
This should take about a half hour. My only advice would be that if you are not feeling the burn, up the resistance.
If you haven’t picked this up from my previous posts, the slow carb diet is my favorite LIFESTYLE diet that I’ve ever put to the test. You don’t have to count calories, and you can eat however much you want of a few given categories. It really eliminates decision in your diet, which I think the number one reason people fall off from diets is because they are given too many options. Check out this article that the 4 hour people discuss in this forum that discuss the finer points of slow carb.

Any other slow carbers out there? How’s it working for you?
For all those out there who are curious about standard drink size for wine, beer, and liquor and how they size up against each other, this is for you.

Would you guys like me to make a post about the average amount of calories in certain kinds of liquor too?
This made my Sunday. One of my old school favorites, THE Rick Flair endorsing an energy/protein shot that I am 99.7% positive that I will never drink (.03% in case I’m dying from low blood sugar on the gym floor or track, and it’s the only thing in sight).
Ohhhhhh heck yes! If you think resistance bands won’t do the trick, check this out
In case you didn’t see him blow the competition out of the water in the 2008 Olympics, Usain Bolt is currently the world’s fastest man and all around freak of nature when it comes to sprinting. If you’ve ever watched him run, you know what I’m talking about. He maintains a 9.69 100m dash time and a 19.30 200m dash time which equates to a 3.54 40 yard dash time.
I was curious and wanted some insight into his training principles, injury prevention, and how he sustains this speed. This is what I found
